“The most important thing for me is that the shoe works on the court. From the technology to the design, it has to capture what I’m trying to execute and get done. So when players put this on, I want them to feel like this shoe holds everything they need…to do what they need to do.”

Kobe better than MJ

Jordan and Kobe
ESPN.com posted on their Page 2 section an article by Jemele Hill stating just that.

A good read with some great points by Jemele. She also wrote a good article about David Stern and the state of the NBA.

Putting Kobe in perspective

By Jemele Hill

Kobe Bryant is better than Michael Jordan.

Not more successful.

Hasn’t had a bigger economic impact.

Hasn’t won more MVPs.

Hasn’t won more titles.

But he’s a better player.

Kobe can do everything Michael did, and even a few things Michael couldn’t do.

VIDEO: Lebron, Wade, and Nash on Kobe

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

NBA.com has been on a little Pro-Kobe campaign of their own, recently splicing comments from LeBron, Wade, and Nash on Kobe together. Seems like some pre-taped stuff for some sort of NBA promo, but still worth a peek. They’ve also posted some top 10 videos of Kobe.

Post Game: Another 50 for Kobe

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

4 Straight 50s
Lakers beat the Oklahoma City/New Orleans Hornets 111-105 behind another history making game from Kobe.

65-50-60-50, that’s how Kobe’s last 4 games went, making him the only player besides Wilt Chamberlain to score 50 points in 4 straight games.

With tonight’s effort Kobe (1st) also passed Elgin Baylor (2nd) on the Lakers All-time list of 50 point games, with 18 total games scoring over 50 points.

Lamar also put in a good effort tonight, chiming in with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Some Laker fans also got their wish tonight, with Smush getting hurt in the 4th quarter, although I don’t know to what extent. Let’s see how Shammond, Farmar, and Sasha stack up if Smush is out.

Post Game: Kobe 175 Grizzlies 119

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Another 60

Okay, well that wasn’t the exact score of the game, but you get the point.

Kobe scored 60 points which brings his three game total to 175, and is the first to score 50+ in 3 straight games since MJ did it. His heavy scoring load helped the Lakers to a narrow victory over the Memphis Grizzlies after nearly blowing a seven-point lead in the last minute. Maybe the blog should be changed to kobeFRESH if he keeps this up. The best part is that we’re winning again, cause I know I wouldn’t be too excited if we were losing. Making history and winning games, it’s great to be a Laker fan right now.

Also, some nice pictures coming in Pictures and Quotes for the Grizzlies game.

Is Kobe the Ultimate Scorer?

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Ultimate Scorer

It’s funny how Kobe gets the most respect when he’s scoring, the one thing people hate on him the most for. Being a so called-ballhog. Check out the coverage on NBA.com, articles and audio.

“Kobe Bryant has a chance to become the greatest scorer the NBA has ever seen.

Let that marinate for a minute.

The G.O.A.T. of the NBA. Top of the totem pole. Best of the bunch.”

Kobe = Player of the Week

Monday, March 19th, 2007

Player of the Week
With 115 points in two games, Kobe is the league’s new scoring leader, 30.0ppg.

According to an ESPN Insider Article by Marc Stein:

Kobe Bryant’s name is going to end up on another news release out of the league office Monday afternoon.

But it’s going to be a Western Conference player of the week announcement.

In the capper to one of the more controversial weeks in Bryant’s career — which is saying something, we know — No. 24 tossed in 50 points Sunday night in a home victory over Minnesota.

That’s after ringing up 65 in Portland on Friday night. Sixty-five!

So . . .

If not check out the discussion on Lakersground.net

UPDATE: It’s Official. March 19, 2007 2:52pm

An announcement was made on NBA.com.

Bryant averaged an NBA-high 46.7 points in helping guide the Lakers to a 2-1 record. He poured in 65 points along with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 116-111 overtime win over Portland on March 16, and followed that up with 50 points, six rebounds and three assists in a 109-102 win over Minnesota on March 18. Bryant became the first Laker to score 50 or more points in back-to-back games since Elgin Baylor in 1962.

KOBE = GOD, Scores 65 in OT Victory

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Kobe 65
Lakers break the 7 game losing streak in a 116-111 victory versus the lowly Blazers.

I’m so ecstatic about the victory. First off, because it’s a victory we desperately needed, something I haven’t seen the Lakers do in over two weeks. And two, because I was reminded today our Lakers have the greatest player in the game right now. Is there anyone EVER that has had a more complete offensive arsenal?

On the flip side though, Kobe had to score 65 points in overtime for the Lakers to beat the Blazers? Gotta start somewhere right?

Pictures and Quotes: Lakers vs Blazers
